How would you describe your personal style?
I do love comfy garments that I can also wear to the office if needed. I do work in a variety of settings with my clients and I love a style that is sporty, comfortable, and casually elegant.
Which is your favourite sewing tool and why?
I have a thing for really good and sharp scissors: fabric scissors, paper scissors, snaps, buttonhole scissors, you name it, I have them. So much of the sewing process is cutting things, and a cutting job well done is more than half of the success in my option.

What are your best sewing tips/tricks?
Don’t skimp on the preparatory steps. It’s often those that make or break a sewing project. You can repair a lot of things, and yet you just can’t easily repair a botched cutting job.
What are the best (and worst) bits of sewing?
Every time I finish a make and it’s “Just so”. Can’t beat that feeling!
The worst bits, well … I know that gathers are very popular right now – and I just hate making them (not too keen on wearing them, either, but that’s a different story).
Do you have a favourite fabric you often choose?
It’s been pointed out to me that I apparently love (and hoard) unusual designs of Liberty Tana Lawn®. I just can’t help myself 😊 Also: Good light wool wovens, like the one for my latest TAL Hoodie Dress.
Where do you get your fabric from?
I like fabrics off the beaten path, so mostly online. I do have a very few small shops where I trust the owners and have never been disappointed.
What would you want to say to someone who’s trying to get started in sewing?
Go for it! And if you have any chance at some good classes, do them. Even the best pattern instructions cannot substitute learning some basics of garment making from a professional seamstress.
What is your next project?
ALL of them 😊

FAVOURITE TAL PATTERN
Apparently always the latest finish 😊 Because whenever I finish a TAL make, I’ll say “this one is IT”. Favorites do include the High-waisted Trousers, the Lab Coat, and both the V-Neck Dress and Coat. I haven’t made it yet, but I do see variations of the Oversized Shirt in that list, too!
