The pattern is, as mentioned before, a collaboration with lovely Natasa (@needleandcloth), who had created a variant for herself which we then used as a basis to adapt to Assembly Line’s aesthetics, garment standard and measurements.
This hack making a dress, is created by her. Thank you for sharing Natasa!
There are two important things to do:
1. Add length (obviously 😏).
For the front it’s a straight line from the shirt hem, for the back you can do the same, or make it slightly A-line, whatever you prefer. Natasa’s blue dress is quite long, but you can make it as long as you like it. Add the length AFTER you’re done with this next step ⬇️
2. Turn the back V-pleat into a straight classic shirt pleat. Natasa has made an instructive video on how to do it:
You can also also add a belt and side seam or patch pockets. Natasa’s dress has one patch pocket with pleats that mirror the neckline pleats.
P.S. This pattern works with our collar extension pattern, to alter your style even more!
