I started sewing, without a machine, in primary school, making clothes for my barbie doll out of old handkerchiefs, tea-towels and anything I could get my hands on.

How would you describe your personal style?
If I have to describe my style it would be quirky, different, unique. Bit hard to describe … I used to be really out there with very unique patterns and prints, but nowadays I really love the minimalistic style of The Assembly Line …
It feels very like myself and happy in my new wardrobe.
Which is your favourite sewing tool and why?
My favourite sewing tool is, don’t laugh, my pressing iron … Can’t do without it!
What’s your most memorable sewing mistake?
I wMy most memorable sewing mistake … OMG many moons ago I bought a bunch of leather, made a pattern from a RTW jacket and so far so good. When I cut the pattern pieces out of the leather I forgot to turn the pieces over, so I ended up with 2 left front pieces, 2 left back pieces, 2 left sleeves …
What are your best sewing tips/tricks?
About sewing tips… I have watched a lot of youtube videos to learn about technical things concerning sewing and gained a lot of confidence from watching videos from Stichless.tv on youtube …
Now I just trust the TAL patterns and the instructions – no hick-ups yet …
What are the best and worst bits of sewing?
The best thing is to be able to create something with your hands. The worst thing is having to draw patterns and cut the fabric.

The best thing about sewing is the fast and satisfying results. The worst thing about sewing is taping the pdf patterns together – I think I have sponsored a sticky tape factory by now …
What would you want to say to someone who’s trying to get started in sewing?
To someone who wants to start sewing, I would say to have fun and learn, there’s no greater reward to have sewn your own clothes!

What’s your proudest sewing moment?
My proudest sewing moment was my first ever garment that fitted, a pair of pants with an elastic waist made from an old bedsheet.
What do you do when you’re not sewing
When I’m not sewing I love to draw patterns, which I still have to sew. I love to create unique sleeves and patterns that are really out there. But! No time to sew it up because I just love to sew all TAL patterns over and over and over and over and over again …
What’s your next project?
My next project is another lab coat, for now …
